I strongly believe that every child is entitled to a secure and loving family, and greatly value Challenging Heights’s membership of Family for Every Child. This international alliance of organizations with a proven track record of child protection seeks to share best practice across the globe. Family for Every Child has five key objectives, all of which are in complete alignment with our work: greater investment in children’s protection and care, more support for families, a range of quality alternative care choices, better decision making about children’s care and stronger protection systems with care at the heart. At Challenging Heights we believe that family is very important and unless alternative care is necessary, we reintegrate the children we rescue with their family and help build this relationship. We monitor these relationships to ensure that the child and family are growing together and the child is cared for.
The alliance works in a number of ways to ensure children receive adequate care. Through research, advocacy and knowledge exchange, members are able to improve their expertise and become even more affective in their work. The opportunity to share best practice with like-minded organizations around the globe is an exciting one, and one that we have already seized. Steven, our Field Operations Manager recently visited Rwanda to share best practice with partners, from Juconi in Mexico as well as the host organization Uyizenga NI Imazi. Being a part of this alliance is truly a unique experience and an exciting opportunity to develop Child Rights internationally. I am therefore very pleased to have been elected as a trustee and member of the Board of Directors by fellow partner organisations and look forward to helping the network grow and develop in the coming years.
