Our relentless fight against the dreaded COVID-19 continued unabated across some very rural, deprived communities. We realised in our endeavors that most of these communities had little or no access to education and sensitisation on COVID-19 and precautionary measures required to prevent it.
We intensified our education drive and took things a step further by increasing the number of basic tippy-taps installed across these communities. The provision of inputs and training in the manufacture of precautionary inputs; Soap, detergents and Facemasks also took centre stage.
With all hands on deck, we are confident that we will overcome this pandemic. We appreciate all the Assemblymen who accompany us on this journey to fight this threat. We soldier on!!

Starting a new decade the Nneka way!!!
Nneka Youth Foundation started 2020 by bringing together a cross section of our Scholarship beneficiaries. They are made up of students from various levels; Junior and Senior High schools, Teacher Training colleges and Universities. The most satisfying part of this is seeing the success of grooming them through the stages since 2012. Bringing them together before they resume school next week is to help them network and to appreciate themselves and learn from one another, the various circumstances under which Nneka identifies with them. This, we believe, would help them push hard to be successful in life. We appreciate all those who in diverse ways support Nneka Scholarship Scheme. Please Join us to push more children who are looking up to us to move on.
Nneka Community Engagement Forum
Community Engagement is a key cog in our transformation agenda. It gives us an opportunity to sample the degree of progress we have made as well as providing a messaging board for key stakeholders. Our most recent Community Engagement Forum(CEF) took place during the PTA meeting of Ve Agbome D/A Basic School. We interacted with parents and teachers and delved into sensitization on topics such us holistic Parental Support through the educational journey as well as rights of the child and responsibilities of all stakeholders towards the children. We also took the opportunity to assess the impact of our most recent Summer camp and our ongoing Rural ICT empowerment program. We are committed to making sustainable impact and Engagement and Evaluation play a key role.
Nneka Youth Foundation supports Mafi-Sasekpe Township
We believe empowerment goes beyond sensitization, empowerment is equipping and tooling both skill-wise and infrastructure-wise”.
Nneka Youth Foundation set the tone for the economic transformation of the town of Mafi-Sasekpe and its environs by revolutionizing cassava value addition.
This week, in partnership with The Ashmore Foundation, we procured and handed over Cassava Flour Processing Machines (a Grater and a Presser) to the women in Mafi-Sasekpe. Prior to this, 75 teen mother from the town were taken through training under our VEP module across various vocational skills including cassava flour production.
The drive behind this project and present at the event was Mama Klebetesi III, Queen Mother of Mafi Sasekpe, who has been very instrumental in this transformation agenda. Also present were representatives from the Ashmore Foundation and the community members.
We are of the firm belief that this landmark facility will not only transform the lives of young women and ease the burden of cassava processing, but will also make Mafi-Sasekpe the Cassava flour hub of Ghana.
Our journey of transforming Africa, one child at a time continues…

Together we can make it…
As much this menace called teenage pregnancy would not go away, we would also not rest on our oars. Mama Klebetesi III, the Queen-mother of Mafi Sasekpe, leads some other queen-mothers to fight against teenage pregnancy. Nneka Youth Foundation shares in this vision and would go all out to collaborate with them in this fight. Out of the 75 young women trained earlier in the Sasekpe community, 28 of them were supported to start their own businesses. The queen-mother was full of gratitude to Nneka Youth Foundation as we handed the tools to her on behalf of the girls.
Interesting first 1/4 :)…
JIM BOURTON Memorial Agric Senior High Sch (JIBMAS) was NNEKA’S last stop as we wrapped up our first quarter activities. We dwelled on the Challenges Students face and how to Overcome them in order to aid them achieve their goals. The interactive section with over 460 students revealed many more challenges that ranged from; lack of proper communication between students and their parents, between students and teachers, peer pressure, relationship issues with opposite sex, lack of facilities and inputs to aid effective learning, absence of some subject teachers and many more. These issues are currently being managed by the District Director of Education, doubling as the Headmistress of the school, who has very limited resources to facilitate adequate solution mechanisms. We are very grateful to Ghana International Bank (GHIB) for supporting this program with reading books.
