Meeting with Regional Health Directorate

Monday 22 April…the NNSS today held meetings with the Northern Regional Director of Health Services,Dr Twumasi and his deputy, Dr mahama.The two were very happy with the initiative and have promised total support and collaboration. Dr Twumasi was particulary happy as he indicated that the focus of the world is now on newborn care.
Additionally, the medical director of the Yendi Hospital called to express his facilities interest to join our network.This brings to three the number of facilities on awaiting to be added to our network(the others being the Tolon and Nyankpala health centres)

EXPANDING THE NEWBORN CARE NETWORK

WED 17TH APRIL 2013………..Our quest to expand our newborn health network took us to four interesting localities today. These were the Kalpohin and Vittin Health Centres in Tamale , and the Nyankpala and Tolon Health Centres in the Tolon District.Hoping to fast track processes and add them very soon.Before the end of the week we are hopeful of making contacts with facilities in Yendi,Salaga,Savelugu,Saboba,Gushegu and a few others.

Tough work? Yes it is! But for the greater good we will keep pressing on. More soon.WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!

Second Parents Class Organized

15th April,2013….We successfully organized our second parents class at the Tamale Teaching Hospital today.Thirteen
care-givers were educated on how to prevent,identify and respond to newborn infections.The diverse class,comprising both parents with their babies on admission and those presenting for review, was very interactive.

First Parents Class Held at Tamale Teaching Hospital

Monday 8th April 2013…NNSS today collaborated with the Newborn Unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital to organize the First Parents Class. In attendance were 9 parents(Including one father! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay) and ten pretty babies(Includes one set of twins).Madam Gladys Ponpuo,head nurse of the newborn ward,was assisted by our volunteers as they gave vital lessons to the parents.Thanks everybody for making the programme a success.
