Too many times all we see is the final result.A great social impact!
But this year I hope we will take time to share our difficult times, frustrations and moments of burn out.It is all part of the package and the INCUBATOR helps to relieve most of this. Our new change leaders need to know the full story.
I sit to type now(at 15hrs GMT),having had no sleep after a night duty which started at 1900hrs last night. There is a lot on my mind and time is ticking away.February starts soon and there are deadlines to be met……submission of social impact report and the need to do enough for the first quarter report.
Newborns continue to die and I wish I could do more.I plan to expand to 100 facilities but do not even know how I am going to get the phones or pay the CUG bills.Business development and Sustainability issues also weigh on my mind. How does it feel when those you recruit to help you out do not seem to move with the same passion. And how do you prevent the situation where your activities become more like knee-jerk or fire-fighting reactions when you meet new problems in the area you work.
I have realized in this short period that a change leader can be a very stressed out person. But when I feel pressured to do so much, one message from Deborah of Golden Baobab during a change leader session remains my guide….
“Look at your current situation,Look at what you want to achieve, formulate your strategy and STICK TO IT”(my paraphrase)
To my colleague new change leaders,I say….It may be tough sometimes, but it is worth it!
Keep on working for positive social change!
