Tragedy struck a family at Krapa in the Ejisu Municipality on Saturday when the room in which a two-year-old boy was sleeping caught fire and burnt the boy to death.

The incident happened about 8 pm. The deceased, Adu Asem, was said to have been left in the candle-lit room by the mother, who had gone out to buy some items from a nearby shop.

An uncle of the deseased, Mr. Isaac Prah, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that while the mother was returning, she saw her three-bedroom apartment engulfed in flames.

He said it took fire fighters about an hour to put out the fire before recovering Little Asem’s charred body.

The Ejisu police confirmed the incident and said the body had been deposited at the Juaben Government Hospital for autopsy. -GNA

“Thank God It’s Friday” (TGIF) is a late night television show that aims to recognise and provide a platform for people who are making strides in our communities. It is the first programme of its kind to focus on recognising and appreciating Ghanaians that are making positive differences in a unique way.

We appeared on the show to tell our amazing story to inspire others and to raise funds to continue our life saving work.

After the show, we have received several child safety related request for us to intervene. Others have also called in to express the desire to support our work.

Last Thursday evening, October 25, 2012 was a unique one as nominees for the GUBA Awards, of which Michael Baabu is one, were outdoored at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Accra.

The launch brought together distinguish personalities such as ex-President John Kufour, Archbishop Duncan Williams, the Minister for Information, several accomplished Media men and women among others.

It was awesome to see what others are also doing for humanity.
